What's the CCR?
Co-curricular activities are the non-academic things you get involved in at university. They could involve joining a club, volunteering for a good cause, helping to plan an event, participating in a program, and much more.
Some of these activities help you build skills and qualifications, just like a job. The Co-Curricular Record is a way of officially recording your activities and identifying why they were valuable to your growth.
You can check out the CCR website to get an idea of what it looks like.
What do I use my CCR for?
Some employers and graduate programs may give you the option to include a CCR in your application. If so, it can be a great way of showing them an organized record of your involvement.
More importantly, adding something to your CCR is a great way of actually thinking about how your involvement has helped you develop useful skills and abilities. Everything that goes on your CCR is attached to specific skills, so it's easy to make the connections.
How do I put something I did on my CCR?
To get something on your CCR, you need 2 things:
- Your activity needs to be in the CCR directory as a recognized activity or position.
- You need a university staff member willing to "validate" (approve) your participation, based on a series of check-in meetings you have with them throughout the year.
First, check to see if it's in the CCR Opportunity Directory.
If it's in the directory, then find out who the validator is for the activity and talk to them about the requirements. Not sure who the validator is? Email ccr@utoronto.ca.
If it's not in the directory, contact the Office of the Dean of Students for more information. You need to get in touch with us at the start of the school year (or earlier, if possible) or you may miss important deadlines to get your position added.
