Professor Manuela Scarci is the chair and coordinator of the Renaissance Studies Program at Victoria University in the University of Toronto. She also is the instructor of the VIC342H course which focuses on writers from various geographical locations, examining various texts by early modern women to explore the female experience in a literate society. Professor Scarci also teaches in the Department of Italian Studies, and her research combines both of these fields, as she is interested in the fields of Italian Renaissance, particularly the short story, and Renaissance women writers and the representation of women in the literature of early modern Italy.
