There are a lot of student leader-led programs and peer-led programs which support the mental and physical health of Vic students.

Residence Dons

Residence Dons are upper-year student staff who live in the residence buildings. Residence Dons act as a resource and are responsible for community development, social/educational programming, crisis intervention, referrals, policy enforcement and the overall well-being of the residents.

Resident students can refer to their floor/houses bulletin board for programming information.

Commuter Dons

Comm-Dons are commuters too and have first-hand experience with the struggles of commuting and traveling to and from campus every day. Students can come to talk to them about anything, whether it is having difficulty adjusting to university life or simply wanting to chat and connect.

They organize weekly events and offer our office hours in the Goldring Student Centre. Commuter Dons are here for their peers to create a campus environment that is commuter-friendly.

Peer-support for First Year Students

All incoming students are paired with a Transition Mentor who will help guide them through their first year at Victoria College. Transition Mentors orient new students to university life by providing them with opportunities to meet other incoming students and to engage with the University of Toronto and Victoria College through Commuter Orientation and Orientation Week.

Transition Mentors also host weekly Success Series Programming throughout the duration of the academic school year and send weekly emails to their mentees about Vic events, programs, workshops and resources.

VUSAC Mental Wellness Commission

The Mental Wellness Commission plans events related to student mental health on campus, helps raise awareness about mental health resources as well as advocates for student mental health among the larger UofT community.

Some of the events the Commission plans are the Learn How To Fail panel discussion, which involves students and faculty, In addition to the panel, they host pre-exam de-stressors, resource fairs and self-care activities.

To contact the commissioner, and if you have any mental wellness-related questions, concerns, or comments, please feel free to e-mail mentalwellness@vusac.ca
