She is also exploring computer science and political science, subjects she enjoys thoroughly. Chen hails from Vancouver where she was recognized not only for her academic skills but for her volunteer role at Simon Fraser University’s Adolescence Risk and Resilience Lab and for her prowess on the volleyball court. Chen has been awarded The Clifton Graham Roberts Admission Award for this year. “My father supports me and my sister while we are in university. He can rest a bit more easily thanks to this award. The award also affords me the opportunity to pursue my interests and passions such as working remotely as a volunteer and research assistant for labs at Yale University and the University of British Columbia. One of the labs is, in fact, researching the impact of COVID-19 on the brain and cognition. Thanks to this award, I was able to choose Vic.”

The Clifton Graham Roberts Admission Award

Clifton NewsVictoria University has always prided itself on the sense of community it has fostered among its students, faculty and staff. It’s this strong sense of community that has led many alumni to stay in touch with the University, long after their days traversing the halls of Old Vic. For some alumni, such as the late Clifton Graham Roberts Vic 5T6, they may even choose to give back to this community through their estate plan. Roberts, who passed away in 2003, spent his career helping students as both a teacher and head of student services at York Mills Collegiate Institute from 1965 to 1990. His legacy of giving back to the academic community perseveres to this day, thanks to The Clifton Graham Roberts Admission Award. Designated for a newly admitted student, the award recognizes those who have achieved academic success, are involved in school, church or community services, and with special consideration given to those in financial need.
