First-Year Experience

First-year students are welcomed through a series of events and support all year round.

For updated information and resources, check the Quercus page VIC101: Pathway to Undergrad!

E-Mentors

E-Mentors

The E-mentorship program connects incoming Victoria College students with upper-year E-mentors throughout the summer. E-mentors send bi-weekly emails that include upper-year student tips/advice, information on resources on campus and alerts on upcoming events. Upper-year mentors are also the first point of contact for any questions and concerns first-year students may have. Throughout the summer, e-mentors organize fun monthly Zoom socials to help new students connect and socialize with upper-year students and other incoming Victoria College peers.

Orientation

Orientation

Victoria College Orientation sees students, staff and faculty come together to welcome new students. It is one of the biggest events of the year and offers many chances to get involved at every stage.

Additional Orientation experiences are:

  • International Students Orientation (ISO) is our welcome and orientation program designed exclusively for International Students. Our team of staff & upper-year International Mentors will welcome you to Vic, help you discover the city, and provide support & programming to help ensure a successful transition into university.
  • Commuter Orientation, otherwise known as Comm-O, is specifically open to commuter students. It’s a great opportunity to familiarize yourself with the campus, participate in a couple of action-packed days of fun and make friends before the school year even begins!

For all the updates on this year's orientation, check our official Victoria College Orientation page.

Transition Mentors

Transition Mentor Program

The Victoria College Transition Mentorship Program is an essential part of the first-year experience for all incoming students.

All incoming students are paired with a Transition Mentor who will help guide them through their first year at Victoria College. Transition Mentors orient new students to university life by providing them with opportunities to meet other incoming students and to engage with the University of Toronto and Victoria College through Commuter Orientation and Orientation Week.

Transition Mentors also host weekly Success Series Programming throughout the duration of the academic school year and send weekly emails to their mentees about Vic events, programs, workshops, and resources.

Through active participation in the Transition Mentorship Program, incoming students will have the foundation for a successful transition into university. They will also gain the skills and knowledge to thrive, both academically and non-academically, throughout their undergraduate degree!
