Professor Albert Moritz teaches in the Jewison Stream of the Vic One Program and in the Creative Expression & Society Progam in Victoria College, University of Toronto. Described as a "master of metaphor" by the Globe and Mail, Professor Moritz has published more than 15 books of poetry and was the 2009 Griffin Poetry Prize winner for The Sentinel. Most recently, his book of poems, The New Measures received the League of Canadian Poets' 2013 Raymond Souster Award, and was a finalist for the Governor General's Award. In addition to his numerous works of poetry, which have received the Guggenheim Fellowship, the Award in Literature of the American Academy of Arts and Letters, among other honours, Professor Moritz has also published several translations and works of non-fiction. Before teaching at Victoria College, he has worked as an advertising copywriter and executive, editor and publisher.
