Professor Victor Falkenheim is the Instructor of the VIC 185H course, which focuses on the dynamics of democratic transformation over the past four decades predominately in the East Asian states, in the Pearson stream of the Vic One Program in Victoria College, at the University of Toronto. Since 1972, he has been teaching at the University of Toronto, and is also professor emeritus of political science of East Asian studies, having served twice as chair of the Department of East Asian Studies as well as director of the Joint Centre for Modern East Asia. Furthermore, he has given lectures in China, and has worked on several projects over the past 20 years for the Canadian International Development Agency and the World Bank, in China. Currently, his research and interests focus on contemporary Chinese politics, and issues dealing with migration and urbanization. Professor Falkenheim has also published books and several of his publications have been featured in China Quarterly and Asian Survey.
