Victoria University, in the University of Toronto, is conducting an extensive
search for a president and vice-chancellor, to take office July 2022, and
invites expressions of interest, applications, and nominations. This is an
exciting opportunity to lead a unique Canadian university that champions
broad-based, inclusive education driven by curiosity and conscience, and
welcomes people from all walks of life into a community of learning.

Founded by Methodists in 1836, Victoria University has earned a
distinguished reputation for excellence and creativity, while providing
an inclusive and collegial environment within the heart of Canada’s top
research university. Victoria University has approximately 3,700 students,
93 faculty, 73 Fellows, and 300 staff. The University is comprised of
Victoria College, an undergraduate arts and science college of the
University of Toronto, and Emmanuel College, a graduate theological
college associated with the United Church of Canada. In the last two
decades, Victoria University has developed a suite of signature programs
which foster high-impact student engagement at both of its colleges.
Its more than 45,000 alumni include some of Canada’s most recognized

The President and Vice-Chancellor is the senior executive officer of Victoria
University and is responsible for its academic and administrative operation,
reporting to the University’s governing body, the Board of Regents.
The President provides inspirational, strategic, academic, and financial
leadership, and works co-operatively within Victoria University and with the
University of Toronto to strengthen and expand its programs and activities
in ways that exemplify its role as a leading university in Canada. The
President will represent Victoria University with the external community
to advance its mission and vision, increase its resources and well being,
and to raise its profile locally, provincially, nationally, and internationally.
The President and Vice-Chancellor will be a visionary and strategic leader
with a superior professional and academic profile, including a significant
record of scholarship, a demonstrated commitment to students,
outstanding interpersonal skills, and the executive leadership ability
to guide the affairs of Victoria University. Candidates will have a collegial
working style, experience or interest in fundraising, and the ability
to further the interests of both of Victoria’s colleges within the wider
University of Toronto community, and nationally and internationally. The
