Cathie Sutton is a historical anthropologist and teaches in the Material Culture and Semiotics and Vic One Hundred programs. She has worked as a field archaeologist in Ontario and as a museum professional at the National Artifact Inventory of Canada, the ROM, the AGO and the Bata Shoe Museum. Her research and teaching focuses on colonialism and archaeology in the Northeast, the profound material exchange between Europeans and Indigenous peoples at Contact, Indigenous architecture, and museum studies.
While at Vic she has developed the MCS Placement in Material Culture course with Vic internships in galleries, museums, archives and heritage management across the GTA.
